As usual, there's tons of postwork on this one. The flames and smoke are manipulated versions of stock photos from stock.xchng
I took this one in a slightly different direction than I originally intended, but I think it turned out well. Even so, I'm not quite ready to call this one done. I'm sure I'll be revisiting this one again later, but I want to work on some other pieces in the mean time.
I hope you all like it! Let me know what you think!
As far as doing more with this, I'm not sure what it would be specifically, I just feel like I could maybe take it further.
I think the problem I'm having is that this really isn't the image that I originally set out to make. For example, the idea to have flames in the picture didn't come about until I was already into postwork. And while they look pretty good, they made it impossible for me to do the lighting as I had originally intended (much darker but more dramatic). Originally I was going to go with much less light. I wanted to show only selective parts of the characters with white light and then make everything else disappear into a black background. Basically it was just going to be a very dramatic use of contrast. This is obviously nothing like that, though the composition and scene itself would be the same. So when I do go back to this, I don't think I'll be updating this image, instead I'll be starting all over and doing a totally different version of the same scene.
I like the satisfaction of having a picture in my mind and then bringing it to life, and I just didn't get that after finishing this. But I will...

"On cold wings she's coming. You better keep moving. For warmth, you'll be longing. Come on just feel it. Don't you see it? You better believe it. Whenever she is raging. She takes all life away. Haven't you seen? Haven't you seen? The ruins of our world?
Thanks! At first it was horizontal, and I thought it was too boring, so I spent some time with some different camera angles and this one seemed to work the best.
